Red-billed tropicbird

With a new group of guests, we started our second trip. Yesterday we sailed the whole day with a steady eastnortheasterly wind. We went quite fast and we dropped our anchor at 04:00 hrs in the bay of Tarrafal de Santiago.
But before we arrived something strange happened. With a smack a bird fell down on deck. It was a Red-billed tropicbird. We see them often flying around and we always admire the long tailfeathers. But we never see them so close by.
The bird was in shock, so we moved him (or her) from the aft deck to the dinghy so he or she could recover a bit. This morning we were happy to see that the bird was gone and flew away again.
